- Intended for use as an active ingredient in professionally formulated cosmetic products
- Typical use level: up to 5% of the final formulation (check product-specific guidelines and local regulations)
- Incorporate into the water phase of formulations, preferably during the cool-down phase
- Final product pH should be checked and adjusted as needed to comply with cosmetic regulations and safety guidelines
- Suitable for use in leave-on or rinse-off formulations such as gels, lotions, and creams, depending on design of the final product
Formulation Notes
- Do not use undiluted on the skin; this material is intended to be diluted into finished cosmetic products
- Acidic pH may impact emulsifiers, thickeners, and other actives – always conduct stability and compatibility testing
- Final formulation pH and total AHA/BHA content must comply with local cosmetic regulations and labelling requirements
- Not a preservative – a separate, appropriate preservative system is required to control microbial growth
- Avoid neutralising the acids excessively, as this may reduce their intended cosmetic functionality
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only – not for ingestion
- Do not apply the concentrate directly to the skin without proper dilution in a finished product
- May cause stinging, burning, or irritation if used at excessive levels or in products with very low pH
- Avoid contact with eyes; in case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water
- Finished products containing AHAs/BHAs may increase skin sensitivity; communicate appropriate usage guidance to end users
- Not recommended for use in products intended for broken, compromised, or highly sensitive skin
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Formulators should follow all applicable cosmetic regulations, safety guidelines, and labelling requirements regarding AHA/BHA use
Quality & Compliance
- Cosmetic-grade raw material supplied by Croda
- Halaal status as per supplier documentation, where available
- Batch traceability and quality documentation (such as COA and SDS) available on request
- Supplied as a raw material for further processing in cosmetic manufacturing
Packaging & Storage
- Typically supplied in suitable plastic (e.g. HDPE) containers designed for acidic aqueous materials
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources
- Keep container tightly closed when not in use to minimise contamination and evaporation
- Avoid prolonged exposure to air and extreme temperatures
- Do not store in reactive metal containers due to the acidic nature of the product
